Geography

Hollenstein an der Ybbs is located in the Most district in Lower Austria Eisenwurzen. 86.41 percent of the area of the municipality is forested.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Garnberg, United Hollenstein, Krengraben, Upper churches and Oisberg.

The capital consists of the village Hollenstein an der Ybbs and Great Hollenstein at the other Ybbsufer ( for Cadastral United Hollenstein includes not only the place Hollenstein also the village Wenten ).

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum and was inhabited at that time. Holnstein was first mentioned in documents in the 12th century, as landlords, the bishoprics of Freising and Passau are called. A village Hollenstein as such was only in the 15th century due to the development of the iron industry. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place informed the eventful history of Austria.

Municipal Archives Hollenstein an der Ybbs

Part of the history of the place Hollenstein an der Ybbs is to understand the market archive. It is located in the municipal office Holle stone. Here is the story of the Office Hollenstein and track from 1848 the community. The oldest exhibits are documents on confirmation of Tädingsbuch by Moritz Bishop of Freising (16 August 1563) and by Bishop Veit Adam von Freising (2 August 1618).

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census the municipality had 1,907 inhabitants, compared with 1,948 inhabitants in 1991, 1 993 inhabitants in 1981 and 2,149 residents in 1971.

Policy

The council has 19 seats, mayor of the municipality is Manfred Gruber.

In the municipal elections of 2005, the SPÖ and the ÖVP reached 11 8 mandates. In the municipal elections of 2010, the Social Democrats lost one seat to the ÖVP.

Economy and infrastructure

This holds in the stops " Unterleiten ", " center ", " national road ", " diversion Weyer ", " Krenn ditch " and " Hohenlehen federal road ". Weekday ride 14 buses from Hollenstein to Waidhofen. The line runs from MO11 Hollenstein by Weyer (Upper Austria ) and the line MO12 Hollenstein by Gostling.
