Hornchurch tube station

Hornchurch is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Havering. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 6 at Station Lane. In the year 2011 there were 1.98 million passengers served by the District Line station.

The opening took place in 1888 when the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway took a direct route running between Barking and Southend -on-Sea in operation, without going through Tilbury. Trains on the District Line held for the first time on July 2, 1902, however, the subway was shut down on the section east of East Ham already on September 30th, 1905 again. Since the completion of the electrification of the line between Barking and Upminster on September 12, 1932 Hornchurch is again served by the District Line. The trains of the railway on here since 1962 through without stopping.

There are two platforms. While the newer island platform keep the regular courses of the District Line, the elderly today is no longer used. The station buildings created as part of the electrification almost entirely new, but individual items from the Victorian era are still visible.
