Hornsby Shire

Hornsby is part of the metropolis of Sydney, capital of New South Wales. The area is 462 km ² the largest LGA the city and has approximately 151,000 inhabitants.

Hornsby is located in the north of Sydney's south-west of the Hawkesbury River about 20 km to 58 km north- west of the city center. The area includes 70 districts: Apple Tree Bay, Arcadia, Asquith, Beauty Point, Beecroft, Berowra, Berowra Heights, Berowra Waters, Berrilee, Bobbin Head, Brooklyn, Canoelands, Carlingford Court, Cheltenham, Cheltenham Heights, Cherrybrook, Collingridge Point, Cowan, Cowan Creek, Cowan North, Dangar Iceland, Epping Heights, Fiddletown, Fishermans Point, Forest Glen, Galston, Hawkesbury River, Hookhams Corner, Hornsby, Hornsby Heights, Hornsby Northgate, Hornsby South, Kangaroo Point, Laughtondale, Long Iceland, Lower Hawkesbury, Maroota North, Milson Iceland, Milsons passage, Mount Colah, Mount Kuringgai, Normanhurst, Normanhurst West, North Epping, North Pennant Hills, Pearces Corner, Peats Ferry, Pennant Hills, Roselea, singletons Mill, Thompsons Corner, Thornleigh, Waitara, Waitara East, Westleigh and parts of Carlingford, Castle Hill, Dural, Eastwood, Eastwood Heights, Epping, Epping West, Glenhaven, Glenorie, Maroota, Middle Dural, Round Corner, Wahroonga, West Pennant Hills and Wisemans Ferry. The seat of the Shire Council is located in the Hornsby district on the southeast edge of the LGA.

Management

The Council of the Shire of Hornsby has ten members who are elected by the residents of the LGA. The three members are from the three Wards A, B and C, the chairman and Mayor ( Mayor ) is also elected by all residents of the LGA. The three districts are set independently of the districts.
