Hory (Karlovy Vary District)

Hory ( German horn) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers west of the center of Karlovy Vary and Karlovy Vary belongs to Okres.

Geography

Hory is on the left of Eger at the junction of the Sokolov Basin emperor forest at the foot of the hill raw ( Hornberg, 582 m). To the northwest rises the voltage applied on the Kellersberg former slag heap Loket, under the sooner the village Podhoří was.

Neighboring towns are Mírová and Zátiší in the north, Jenišov in the Northeast, Pod Raw and Tašovice in the east, in the southeast Doubí, Vildenava in the south, Loket in the southwest, and Loučky Nové Saddleback in the west and Chranišov and Chodov in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village belonging to the reign Elbogen Hory dates from the year 1350. Along the Eger mining was carried out on tin.

After the abolition of patrimonial Horn formed with the hamlet of Honey Green a municipality in the district of Sokolov. Since the end of the 19th century was called the honey green Hunschgrün. From 1920 Horn / Hory belonged to the district Elbogen. 1930, the municipality had 1028 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement in 1938, Horn joined the German Empire. 1939 lived 1005 people in Horn. From 1938 to 1945, the community was part of the German district Elbogen and came to the end of the Second World War back to Czechoslovakia.

From 1946 to 1960 Hory belonged to Okres Karlovy Vary - okolí and since 1961 Okres Karlovy Vary. Hory was incorporated in 1961 including Podhoří after Jenišov. From 1975 to 1993 Hory was a district of Karlovy Vary. Since 1994, the community is again.

For the community Hory no districts are reported. To Hory include the corridors of the overturned with overburden village Podhoří ( Hunschgrün ).

Attractions

  • Hans- Heiling Rock; the granite rock formation on the left bank of the Eger is almost three kilometers southeast of Hory in the corridors of the community. It has been protected as a natural monument.
