Hosea Gear ( born March 16, 1984 in Gisborne, New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby union player at the position of the outer three-quarters and the younger brother of the outer three- quarter Rico Gear. He plays for Wellington in the Air New Zealand Cup and for the Hurricanes in the Super 14 on November 1 of 2008 made it Gear against Australia in a match for the Bledisloe Cup in Hong Kong, made his international debut for New Zealand. International experience gained Gear in the U -21 national team in 2004 and 2005 and for the New Zealand Māori in the years 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
He currently holds 14 attempts in the 2008 season, the record for the most goals attempts in the Air New Zealand Cup.
His brother Rico also played for the All Blacks. He played 19 tests between 2004 and 2007.
Hosea is 1.89 m tall and weighs 102 kg. He went to the Gisborne Boys' High School and he plays for the Hutt Old Boys Marist Rugby Club -.
