Hoste, Galanta District

Hoste (up to 1948 Slovak " crocheted "; knitted German, Hungarian Kisgeszt - to 1907 Geszt ) is a municipality in Slovakia. The place is between Trnava and Galánta in the Danubian Lowland on Dudváh. The direct neighboring towns are Majcichov and Abrahám.

General

The place is characterized mainly by agriculture. There is a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary (originally Baroque style, today Neo-Gothic ), a restaurant and a small shop.

The municipality has a district which is called Mlyn.

History

The village was mentioned in 1231 for the first time as Gezt, as it passed from royal property on the Bratislava castle in the hands of Sebes from the noble family of the Counts of Jur and Pezinok. Other owners were the Gesztis (a part 14th century), orders of Claris of Trnava (from 1553), Victoria Folliot de Crenville ( much later ), the Esterházy ( 1805 ), Herrengut Ceklis - Bernolákovo (from 1817).

1786 German were located here, but these soon wandered off or were assimilated by the Slovaks.

In 1970, the place still 578 inhabitants in 1980 nurmehr 538 inhabitants.
