Hounslow Town tube station

Hounslow Town is a former London Underground station. It was opened on May 1, 1883 the name Hounslow, as the terminus of a route the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR, predecessor of today's District Line ), led by Acton Town here. The route would initially continue to be built towards Twickenham, but the London and South Western Railway (L & SWR ) successfully defended itself against the penetration of the MDR in their own " territory".

The route was on 21 July 1884 to the new terminus Hounslow Barracks (now Hounslow West) extended so that the head station Hounslow (now in Hounslow Town renamed) now lay at the end of a short branch line. The single-track branch to Hounslow Barracks first sailed a shuttle train which from Osterley & Spring Grove wrong. On March 31, 1886, the MDR closed the station and gave the pendulum mode on. All trains were now directly from Acton Town. As a replacement, the station Heston Hounslow was (now Hounslow Central), was closer to the center.

On March 1, 1903 was the reopening of the station, as the MDR operation, which had been hitherto carried out in cooperation with the L & SWR, completely took over. The MDR put the stitch line but on May 1, 1909 final still. The station building was demolished after closure and replaced by a bus garage, which existed until 1954. Lapse of around 300 meters to the north was a new station called Hounslow East.
