History

The opening of the station Osterley & Spring Grove on May 1, 1883, when the Metropolitan District Railway (MDR; predecessor company on the District line ), the distance between Acton Town and Hounslow Town took in operation. After the opening of the branch line towards Hounslow Barracks (now Hounslow West) on July 21, 1884 reversed Osterley & Spring Grove from a shuttle train to Hounslow Town. His business already ended on 31 March 1886 but was resumed on March 1, 1903. After completion of the electrification on June 13, 1905, all trains were no longer directly to Hounslow Barracks, but used in the head station Hounslow Town, until the reopening of the direct route on May 2, 1909.

After trains on the Piccadilly line from the March 13, 1933 also sailed the route to Hounslow West, the station came gradually to their capacity limits. London Underground decided about 250 meters further west to build a new building. This was built to plans by Charles Holden and was opened on March 25, 1934 under the name of Osterley. Since October 9, 1964 runs only the Piccadilly Line to the west of Acton Town section because the District line was shortened.

The facilities at the original location at the Thornbury Road remained largely intact until 1957, but then the stairs and the platforms were removed. The station building, however, remained and now serves as a second-hand bookstore.
