Hrochoť
Hrochoť ( until 1927 slovak also " Chrochoť "; Hungarian Horhát ) is a town in central Slovakia with 1502 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Banská Bystrica, kraj a circle of Banskobystrický.
Geography
The municipality is located in the mountains above the stream Polana Hučava and creek at the source of the stream Hrochoťský. The municipality is extended in a west-east direction and mostly only 1-2 km wide and covers large parts of the valley Hrochoťská dolina in the extinct volcanic mountains Polana; large parts belong to the protected landscape area Polana. The center is located at an altitude of 636 m nm and is located 20 km from Banská Bystrica and Zvolen 22 km.
History
Hrochoť was first mentioned in 1424 as Horhagh writing.
