Hugh Charles Boyle

Hugh Charles Boyle ( born October 8, 1873 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, USA, † December 22, 1950 in Pittsburgh) was Bishop of Pittsburgh.

Life

Hugh Charles Boyle visited the St. Vincent College in Latrobe. In 1891 Boyle studied Catholic theology and philosophy at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe. He received on 2 July 1898, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Boyle was curate at St. Aloysius Church in Wilmerding. In 1903 he became secretary of the Bishop of Pittsburgh. From 1916 to 1921, Hugh Charles Boyle pastor of the parish of St. Mary Magdalene in Homestead.

On June 16, 1921 Pope Benedict XV appointed him. Bishop of Pittsburgh. The Bishop Emeritus of Pittsburgh, John Francis Regis Canevin, donated to him on June 29th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Harrisburg, Philip Richard McDevitt, and the Bishop of Altoona, John Joseph McCort.
