Since the capacity of 3.4 billion liters proved to be too low, another dam called Harrison Dam was built in the area who could accumulate about three times the amount of water.

When the area was declared in 1959 to the bird sanctuary, the failure of the project was already clear in 1962 rice production was then adjusted.

The project failed for several reasons: There was a lack of transport capacity of the cultivated rice, the water supply was not controlled, the funding was not secured, the responsibilities were not sufficiently centralized and Spaltfußgänse served on the seed.
