Ichirnawa

Ichirnawa (also: Ichirnaoua ) is a rural municipality in the Department Kantché in Niger.

Geography

Ichirnawa lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Garagoumsa the northwest, Tirmini in the northeast, Droum in the east, Doungou in the southeast, southwest and Kantché Matamèye in the west. The municipality is divided into 18 administrative villages, ten traditional villages, 43 hamlets and five storage. The main town of the rural community is Ichirnawa.

History

The rural community Ichirnawa went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Kantché.

Population

At the 2001 census Ichirnawa had 24,993 inhabitants. For the year 2010 33.934 inhabitants were calculated. In Ichirnawa members of the mainly Agropastoralismus operated Fulbe subgroup Daourawa live.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture.
