Igor Velichkin

Igor Gennadjewitsch Welitschkin (Russian Игорь Геннадьевич Величкин; born July 3, 1987 in Magnitogorsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since September 2013

Career

Igor Welitschkin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk, for the second team, he was active from 2003 to 2006 in the third-class Perwaja league. Towards the end of the 2005/06 season he also made ​​his debut for the first team of HK Lada Togliatti in the Russian Super League. In the following season the winger won the Russian championship with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk. For this success he contributed two goals and three assists in 33 games in total. However, in the 2007/ 08 season, he only came to a further three Super League appearances for Metallurg, while he had to spend the entire rest of the season with the second team in the league Perwaja.

From 2008 to 2010 Welitschkin played for HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established. When HK tractor he also began the season 2010/ 11, but moved after only three games in the KHL Vityaz Chekhov to before he was transferred in December 2011 to league rivals Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg. In August 2012, his running contract was terminated by Awtomobilist.

A few days later Welitschkin was obliged by HK Sibir Novosibirsk and graduated in 2012/ 13, only 12 KHL games for Sibir. At the start of the following season, he was again at Awtomobilist under contract, but was initially only used when Sputnik Nizhny Tagil farm team. Mid- September 2013, he moved to Metallurg Novokuznetsk therefore.

Internationally

For Russia Welitschkin took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2005. During the tournament he prepared in six games before two goals.
