Imperia (Band)

Imperia is a multinational Symphonic metal band with opera influences, around the former Trail of Tears, Sahara Dust and Epica singer Helena Iren Michaelsen.

Band History

At Easter 2004 the two founded Norwegian musicians Helena Iren Michaelsen and Audun Grønnestad, along with John Stam of the Netherlands Jan Yrlund from Finland, Gerry Verstreken from Belgium and Germany Stefan Wolz from the band Imperia. The band performed for the first time with the song Lotus Eaters, a cover of Dead Can Dance in appearance. Shortly after, she received a record deal with the Dutch record label Ebony Tears. In the summer of 2004, she first began to play his first concerts and shows. In the fall appeared Imperia 's debut album The Ancient Dance of Quetesh, which was only released in Belgium. Then the band played more concerts in Belgian and Dutch clubs. To which they gave a concert with Nightwish in Amsterdam, which was sold out.

In 2005, the band dedicated their fishing side project and wrote more songs for their second album.

In February 2006, the band started the recordings for Queen of Light, which were completed in the summer of the same year. Looking for a new label, which should bring her album on the market, they came across the German metal label Massacre Records that her album spawned in March 2007 on the market. The idea for the name came from the birth of Helena's daughter, who was born during the recording of the album.

Style

The musical style of Imperia can be in the Symphonic Metal Category classify, but is sometimes also associated with the Gothic Metal. The band describes her style as "Atmospheric Metal". To which the music is also referred to as " Bombastic Metal with typical epic and orchestral elements ." Singer Helena Michaelsen normally sings in the dramatic soprano.

Hinge

Apart from Imperia, the band is working on another project called Angel. Until now, they released the album A Woman 's Diary 2005 - Chapter I and the single Do not Wanna Run at Black Lotus Records.
