Incat

Incat is an Australian manufacturer of high-speed catamarans. The company is based in Derwent Park (near Hobart in Tasmania ).

The company is building catamarans for civilian and military use with up to 112 m in length and service speeds up to 40 knots ( 75 km / h). Various buildings of the company won in record runs for advertising purposes in the 1990s, the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossings, but regular applications are shorter ferry routes for passenger and Autofährdienst.

Civilian operators in Europe operate with Incat ferries routes in the English Channel, Kattegat and the Straits of Gibraltar. Military Operators, for example, the Australian naval forces and the United States Navy, who use these ships in East Timor and Iraq war.

End of the 1990s, Incat was in serious financial trouble, but with the help of several new orders from Europe, Asia and the U.S. ( U.S. Navy ) were eventually resolved.
