Industrial Silence is the debut album of the Norwegian rock band Madrugada and was released in 1999 by Virgin. The recordings took place in Halden, Norway in the Athletic Sound Studios. The album was produced by the band together with Kai Andersen. At the console of the famous producer and sound engineer John Agnello, who had previously worked with other already for Dinosaur Jr., the Breeders, or the Screaming Trees sat. The album rose from zero to one in the Norwegian album charts. This was previously not yet succeeded Norwegian artist. After that, the album spent 35 weeks in the Norwegian album charts.

Genesis

Under the name Abbey's Adoption the band had already released two EPs in 1995, where published with Salt Satan and Bittersweet Electric two early versions of the title Salt and Electric Industrial Silence. After its name change to Madrugada the band received a recording contract with Virgin Music Norway. It was followed by two EP releases, the EP and the New Depression EP, on which, among other things, the title Belladonna, Strange Colour Blue and Higher were included, which were later re-recorded for the album. The EP was limited to 750 pressings, the band refused to remake and made sure that the recordings valuable collectors' pieces were. The first 5000 copies of Industrial Silence sold in Norway contained a bonus CD with three other titles that were published in an unknown number in other European countries. These bonus tracks were also available on the Vinyl version of the album.

Deluxe Edition

The bonus tracks as well as the title is not used for the album of the EPs and other B-sides were released in 2010 on the double CD Industrial Silence Deluxe Edition. On the first CD, there is the remastered album, the second CD the other pieces. The remastering was done by Greg Calbi in which these tasks renowned Sterling Sound Studio in New York.

The Industrial Silence Deluxe Edition includes the regular double CD album in a new mix on the first CD, while 1999 included a number of B-sides of singles and EPs and some demo versions on the second CD in addition to three bonus tracks, which have also been remastered.
