The International Federation Vexillologischer companies ( FIAV ) is an international association of 55 regional, national and multinational organizations and institutions around the world. The FIAV defines itself as " a device that knowledge about flags of all types, their forms and functions, and the scientific theories and principles accumulated. " The English equivalent of the German name is the International Federation of Associations Vexillological. Fédération internationale des associations vexillologiques would be the French name, and Federación Internacional de Asociaciones Vexilológicas is the name of FIAV in Spanish. These languages ​​are the four official languages ​​of the Organization.

Provisionally FIAV was founded on September 3, 1967 during the 2nd International Congress of vexillology in Rüschlikon in Switzerland. Finally went to the public FIAV on 7 September 1969, while the 3rd International Congress of Vexillology in Boston. The FIAV has a " three-person Board ", consisting of a President, Secretary General and Secretary-General for Congresses.

Flag

The FIAV flag was originally designed by Klaes Sierksma and easily changed by the Organizing Committee of the 2nd International Congress of vexillology. The flag was introduced on 3 September 1967. The blue color is defined as PMS U293 and the yellow color is defined as PMS U123. Flags for the three officers were approved in 1999, after they were designed by the former FIAV President William Crampton. All FIAV flags were easily changed by the Twentieth Session of the General Assembly FIAV in Berlin in 2007.
