Inzersdorf - Getzersdorf is a municipality with 1510 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Sankt Pölten- Land in Lower Austria.

Geography

Inzersdorf - Getzersdorf located in the Most district in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 13.72 square kilometers. 8.45 percent of the area is forested.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum and later the Roman province of the same name. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying shared the places the eventful history of Austria. 1850 were formed in Inzersdorf and Getzersdorf independent municipalities. The only independent municipality until 1863 Getzersdorf was combined with Inzersdorf until 1919 and get back to their community. In 1970, the municipal councils of Inzersdorf and Getzersdorf resolved the merging of the two communities under the name Inzersdorf - Getzersdorf.

Population Development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1399 inhabitants. In 1991, the municipality had 1335 inhabitants, 1981 and 1133 in 1971, 1143 inhabitants.

Archeological Sites

Getzersdorf

When gravel mining in the "Railway gravel pit next to the station Getzersdorf " Latène some graves were uncovered from 1899 to 1923. There were a total of 13 inhumations, including a double grave, which can be dated from the early to the Mittelatèneperiode. At grave goods, archaeologists found a Choker ( torc ) with petschaftähnlichen ends and plastic decoration, and several ornate bangles. The tombs belong to a group of such objects, which extend in the hinterland of Traisen on a river terrace.

Inzersdorf

Here is a group of graves with inhumation burials, cremations and a round or square bezels was discovered. Pottery, some fine pottery wheels -Ware, partly coarser handmade objects, as well as brooches, belt hook, spear-heads, bill hooks and Bosses allowed the dating of the Early La Tène. Some of the skeletal remains showed signs of polio, others of skull fractures on.

Walpersdorf

A settlement from the late Hallstatt - La Tène to the left Traisen bank, also located on a river terrace, is the most extensive locality of this area. The buildings were partly sunk, partly built in post and beam construction. Beautifully machined and polished pottery wheel pottery of the late Hallstatt period, a gold- decorated pot in pits deposited animal and human skeletal remains - including a skull with Trepanationsspuren - point to an agrarian manor.

In the northwest of the building group was found by aerial archeology an extensive burial ground. A 1987 exposed group revealed tombs eleven body and a cremation burial.
