Irma (singer)

Irma (née Irma Pany, born July 15, 1988 in Douala, Cameroon ) is a Cameroonian living in France, singer and songwriter.

Life and work

Irma comes from a musical family. Her father is a guitarist and her mother sang in the church choir. Also Irma came as a child to church masses. At 15, she went to a school in Paris in order to improve their education. Since 2008, she completed a Master's degree at the University of Economics, ESCP Europe. In 2007 she presented her first one on YouTube videos in which she performed self-penned songs as well as cover versions, including I Want You Back by the Jackson 5 or New Soul by Yael Naim. 2008 Michael Goldman, son of the French musician Jean -Jacques Goldman and 2007 co-founder of the label My Major Company was aware of them. Irma received a recording contract with My Major Company in February 2011 and released her debut album Letter to the Lord in France, where it reached # 6 on the album charts. In Switzerland, it debuted at number 46 and in Wallonia 18th place The first single I Know reached number 42 in Switzerland, # 2 in France and 7th in Wallonia. In summer 2011, she took the song I Want You Back in a common version with the Black- Eyed Peas singer will.i.am on. 2012 album Letter to the Lord was honored in France with platinum. At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2012, she received a nomination for Best French Act. Early 2013, she released her title I know in a duet version with Mic Donet, a candidate from the first season of The Voice of Germany.
