Isabel Coixet

Isabel Coixet ( born April 9, 1960 in Sant Adrià de Besòs, Barcelona region, Spain) is a Catalan film director and screenwriter, who comes from the advertising industry. Her films usually penetrate ago in intimate details of human existence.

Life

Coixet grew up in a communist family under the Franco regime. She studied history with a focus on contemporary history at the University of Barcelona and has started at the age of 19 years to work as a copywriter. Later she worked as a creative director at the advertising agency JWT and commercial director and founded the creative agency Target and the production companies Edie Saeta and Miss Wasabi Films. She also wrote for the major Spanish film magazine Fotogramas. Work
