18th Goya Awards

The Goya, the most important Spanish film prize was awarded in 28 categories, 2004. The ceremony on 31 January 2004 at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos in Madrid Cayetana Guillén Cuervo was moderated by and Diego Luna. As a big winner of the evening proved to be Icíar Bollaíns relationship drama Open my eyes, that describes a woman who, after ten years in which she was beaten by her husband, separates from him. The film, which was victorious in seven of the nine nominations, was able to prevail against, among others Isabel Coixet's My Life Without Me with Sarah Polley in the lead role. As Best Film were David Truebas Literaturverfilmung Soldados de Salamina, which was proposed by Spain for an Oscar in the category Best Foreign Language Film, and Antonio Merceros at the World Film Festival excellent youth film nominated Planta 4 ª.

Laia Marullus Luis Tosar and my eyes have been awarded for her performance in Open as best lead actor in the supporting actor categories won Eduard Fernández and Candela Peña. That in the GDR is moved, directed by Wolfgang Becker Drama Good Bye, Lenin! Award in the category Best European film, Historias mínimas the Argentinian Carlos Sorin was awarded the Goya for Best Foreign Film in Spanish. The Argentine actor Héctor Alterio, who has been working since the late 1950s in the film business and played among other things, Son of the Bride and An impossible love, honor -Goya was awarded.
