11th Goya Awards
The Spanish Goya Film Awards were awarded in 25 categories, 1997. At the ceremony, which took place Palacio Municipal de Congresos Juan Carlos I in Madrid on January 25, 1997, was hosted by the two actors Juanjo Puigcorbé and Carmen Maura, two films prevailed in each of seven categories. Alejandro Amenábar's film debut, the horror thriller Tesis - The snuff film, won eight nominations, among others, in the most important category, Best Picture. Pilar Miró received for his twelve times nominated comedy El perro del hortelano the Goya for Best Director. Also nominated for Best Picture was Imanol Uribe's Bwana, which was able to implement any of his three nominations in prices.
Santiago Ramos (Como un Relámpago ) and Emma Suárez (El perro del hortelano ) were honored as Best Leading Actor, Luis Cuenca (La buena vida ) and Mary Carrillo ( Más allá del jardin ) won in the supporting actor categories. The Golden Palm in Cannes excellent film Secrets & Lies of the British Mike Leigh won the Goya for Best European Film, the romantic drama Sol de otoño the Argentinian Eduardo Mignogna for Best Foreign Film in Spanish. The director and supporting actor Actor Miguel Picazo, who was awarded for his film La Tia Tula in 1964 at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, was awarded the honorary Goya.
