19th Goya Awards
The award of the 2005 Goyas, the most important Spanish film award, took place on January 30. The big winner was Alejandro Amenábar's The Sea Inside drama, which deals with the euthanasia, and was traded in advance as a big favorite. With 15 nominations, the film is about Ramón Sampedro, who among other things, won the Oscar and Golden Globe winning later, half of the 28 categories, including the most prestigious. Alejandro Amenábar was already a director with Virtual Nightmare - show Open Your Eyes and The Others international success.
As Best Film sat down The Sea Inside, among other things against La Mala Educación - Bad Education by Pedro Almodóvar and Roma Adolfo Aristarain by which both came empty-handed. Best European film was the German contribution against the wall of the multi-award winning director Fatih Akın. The German film was able to hold against, among others, the British historical drama The Girl with the Pearl Earring starring Scarlett Johansson. During the Uruguayan Festival success whiskey in the category Best Foreign Language film won in the Spanish language, received the Spanish actor José Luis López Vázquez, whose career began in the 1930s, the Honorary Goya.
