22nd Goya Awards
The Spanish Goya Film Awards were awarded in 27 categories as well as Honorary Goya 2008. The ceremony, which was hosted by Jose Corbacho and aired by the Spanish television station Televisión Española, took place on 3 February 2008 at the Palacio Municipal de Congresos del Campo de las Naciones in Madrid.
With the most nominations, a total of 15, was Juan Antonio Bayonas horror film The Orphanage into the race for the trophies. In seven categories, the film could hold its own against the competition. Another big favorite of the evening was with 14 nominations gambling during the Spanish Civil War film drama Las 13 rosas, which was awarded with four Goyas. In the two major categories Best Film and Best Director surprisingly won the Drama Lonely fragments, only the second feature from director Jaime Rosales.
