14th Goya Awards
At the 14th ceremony of the Spanish Goya Film Awards on 29 January 2000, hosted by actor Antonia San Juan, Pedro Almodóvar's All About My Mother tragicomedy won in seven of the 26 categories in which Goya was awarded. The film, which was later to be honored at the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, was ahead with 14 nominations liked the event. Carlos Saura's Goya in Bordeaux is a film adaptation of the life of the painter Francisco de Goya, after the film award is named. The highly acclaimed by the critics and at film awards highly successful tragicomedy Life Is Beautiful Roberto Benigni the Italian was awarded as the best European film and Life, a whistling of the Cuban Fernando Pérez for best foreign film in Spanish.
The Honorary Goya went to Antonio Isasi - Isasmendi, who was active in his ongoing since the 1940's film career as a director, screenwriter, editor and producer.
