23rd Goya Awards

The Spanish Goya Film Awards were awarded in 28 categories, and as Honorary Goya 2009. The ceremony took place on 1 February 2009 at the Palacio de Congresos del Campo de las Naciones in Madrid.

The literary adaptation Los girasoles ciegos was able to prevail in a total of 15 nominations only in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay against the competition. Also Agustín Díaz Yanes ' Thriller Los Bandidas - Can be beautiful revenge! held up at eleven nominations only in the category of Best Cinematography. As the big winner of the evening, Javier Fessers Drama Camino turned out, that was seven times nominated and finally received six Goyas, including Best Picture and Best Director. Benicio del Toro was for Best Actor for his title role in the biopic Che - excellent Revolución. Penelope Cruz won the Goya for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Woody Allen's comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
