The Ishikawa Prefecture (Japanese石川 県, Ishikawa - ken) is a prefecture of Japan. It is located in the Chūbu region on the island of Honshu. Seat of the prefectural government is Kanazawa.

History

After the abolition of the feudal system in the Meiji Restoration, the Ishikawa Prefecture in 1871 in the ancient provinces of Kaga, Noto, Echizen and Etchu of several fiefs ( han ) or resulting from it prefectures.
