Islington (TTC)

Islington is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Bloor- Danforth line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Bloor Street and Islington Avenue. The station, which has a central platform, is used daily by an average of 43,090 passengers (2009 /10)

There is a major bus terminal on the station. From here there are 17 bus lines of the company Mississauga Transit on different routes in the westernmost neighboring city of Mississauga, and he also is served by three bus lines of the Toronto Transit Commission. The commuters are beyond three park-and -rides with a total of 1282 chargeable parking available.

Immediately west of Islington enters the route to the surface and then follows the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway. East of the route is also briefly above ground, because there the Mimico Creek is crossed on a bridge. The opening of the station on 10 May 1968 together with the section Keele - Islington. For more than twelve years here was the western terminus of the Bloor- Danforth Line. The extension to the station Kipling was opened on 22 November 1980.
