Royal York (TTC)

Royal York is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Bloor- Danforth line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Bloor Street and Royal York Road. The station has side platforms, is used daily by an average of 19,440 passengers (2009 /10)

It offers connecting flights to four bus lines. West of Royal York, the route runs just above ground, because there the Mimico Creek is crossed on a bridge. The opening of the station on 10 May 1968 together with the section Keele - Islington. In the initial planning Royal York was not yet included: In the center of the then independent city Etobicoke stations were provided at the Prince Edward Drive and Montgomery Road ( 400 meters east and 200 meters to the west located ). It then fell, however, the decision to build only one station on the intervening Royal York Road, because it 's business district Kingsway could be put to better use.
