Issei Yamamoto

Yamamoto Issei (Japanese山 本 一 清, born May 27, 1889 in Shiga Prefecture, † January 16, 1959 ) was a Japanese astronomer.

He was professor of astronomy at the University of Kyoto. In 1920 he became the first president of the Astronomical Society initiated by him (天文 同好 会, Tenmon Dōkōkai ), which in 1932 in Oriental Astronomical Association (东 亜 天文学 会, Toa Tenmon Kyōkai ) has been renamed. He was Director of the Observatory Kwasan in Kyoto.

The crater Yamamoto on the Moon and the asteroid ( 2249 ) Yamamoto was named in his honor.
