Ivet Lalova

Iwet Lalowa ( Bulgarian Ивет Лалова, English transcription Ivet Lalova, . Born May 18, 1984 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian sprinter.

For the first time she came into the limelight when she won the title in 2003 in the 100 and 200 meters at the U20 European Championships in Tampere. Ahead of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she ran at the European Cup in Plovdiv sensational 10.77 s in the 100 meters. Only the European record holder Christine Arron, world record holder Florence Griffith Joyner, Marion Jones, Evelyn Ashford and Merlene Ottey had run faster in the history of athletics as the young Bulgarian. At the Athens Games she missed about 100 meters just three hundredths of a second in fourth medal. About 200 meters it was the best European in fifth. In June 2005, Lalowa broke a leg when she collided with another athlete.

In April 2007 Lalowa returned to the stage, but did not reach the finals at major international championships, so it was eliminated in the semifinals in the 100 meters and 200 meters in the quarter finals at the Olympic Games in 2008. Only at the 2011 World Championships she ran again in the 100 -meter final and reached the seventh place. At the European Championships 2012 in Helsinki she won the final over 100 meters.

Iwet Lalowas father Miroslav was Lalow Bulgarian 200-meter champion in 1966, she was Bulgarian Champion 2004 in the 100 and 200 meters and 2005 over 100 meters. For some years they lived together with the Italian sprinter Simone Collio. She is 1.66 m tall and weighs 55 kg.
