J. D. Allen III

JD Allen III ( born December 11, 1972 in Detroit / Michigan) is an American jazz saxophonist.

Allen lives in New York, where he as both musicians such as Lester Bowie, George Cables, Betty Carter, Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, Frank Foster Big Band, Winard Harper, Butch Morris, David Murray and Wallace Roney, as well as with younger musicians Cindy Blackman, Orrin Evans, Gerald Cleaver, Eric Revis, Marcus Gilmore, Russell Gunn, Meshell Ndegeocello, Dave Douglas and Nigel Kennedy worked.

He leads his own trio. For his debut album as a leader ( In Search Of ... ), he was in Italy in 1999 the Best New Artist Award. His second album ( Pharoah's Children) entered the top ten list of the year 2002 of the Jazziz Magazine.
