J. Peter Sartain

James Peter Sartain ( born June 6, 1952, in Memphis ) is Archbishop of Seattle.

Life

James Peter Sartain received on 15 July 1978, the ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 4 January 2000 as Bishop of Little Rock. The Archbishop of Oklahoma City, Eusebius Joseph Beltran, donated to him on March 6 of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were James Terry Steib, SVD, Bishop of Memphis, and Andrew Joseph McDonald, retired bishop of Little Rock. As a motto he chose Of You My Heart Has Spoken.

On 16 May 2006 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Joliet in Illinois and introduced into the office on 27 June of the same year. On 16 September 2010 he was appointed Archbishop of Seattle and introduced into the office on 1 December of the same year.
