Jaama is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Illuka ( Illuka vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.

Description and History

Jaama located thirty miles from the town of Jõhvi. The village has 65 inhabitants ( 2011).

It was first documented in 1583. At that time the village was called Vihtse or Vihtitsa. He is wotischen origin. Later, the place was called jama. 1782 there lived 239 people.

Orthodox Church

The consecrated to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church of Jaama (Russian Нарвский Воскресенский кафедральный собор ) was consecrated on August 13, 1904. Your architect was Vladimir Lunski.
