Jack Austin

Jacob "Jack" Austin PC QC OBC ( born March 2, 1932 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a Canadian lawyer and politician of the Liberal Party of Canada, who was a member of the Senate more than 31 years.

Life

After schooling Austin graduated, he finished with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). A subsequent post-graduate studies in law, he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) and a Master of Laws from (LL.M. ) and then began working as a lawyer.

In the general election on November 8, 1965, Austin applied for the Liberal party in the constituency of Vancouver Kingsway a seat in the House of Commons, but suffered a defeat, and thus failed to reach the House of Commons.

Austin, which an Honorary Doctor of Social Sciences ( D.Soc.Sci. Hon ) was awarded, was born on August 19, 1975, on a proposal by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau member of the Senate and took over 31 years to this until March 2, 2007 Senate District Vancouver South.

On 12 December 2003, Austin Chairman of the Liberal party and thus leader of the Government in the Senate ( Leader of the Government in the Senate ). For his decades-long achievements in 2010 he received the Order of British Columbia.
