Jack Carter (comedian)

Jack Carter (* June 24, 1923 in New York City ) is an American actor, comedian and television presenter.

Life

Carter played between March 1956 and February 1957 in 383 Broadway performances, as a partner of Sammy Davis Jr., one of the main roles in the musical Mr. Wonderful.

Since the 1950s, he had numerous guest roles in the U.S. television series, including I Dream of Jeannie, The Rockford Files - Just call and Love Boat. In recent years he starred in ER, Monk and Desperate Housewives. For the first episode of the CBS sitcom The King of Queens, which was produced as a pilot, a year before the second, he played Arthur Spooner. Carter, however, was then replaced by Jerry Stiller on the series before filming began. The scenes with Carter had to be reshot again.

In the U.S. television Carter hosted, among others, are not very successful game show Second guessers and was a regular guest on the Ed Sullivan show. His film roles include Great nights in Las Vegas at the side of Elvis Presley, the horror film The Horror Alligator and the Mel Brooks comedy The History of the World.
