Mr. Wonderful (film)

Mr. Wonderful is an American comedy film directed by Anthony Minghella from the year 1993.

Action

Gus and Leonora are divorced, Gus has to pay alimony. It offers an opportunity to invest together with four friends in a bowling alley, which Gus has long been dreaming. The financial burden of child support makes the investment impossible.

Gus comes to the idea that he would not pay child support if his ex- wife would remarry. Leonora combines an affair with Tom, a married professor. You do not want to marry again. Gus still speaks to his unmarried friends and asking them whether they would seek a wife.

Meanwhile, Rita wants to be the girlfriend of Gus, move in with him. He refuses. Rita tells her family, Gus was afraid that he could not go along financially with his friends. She is crying.

Finally, Leonora finds a man she could marry attractive. This makes Gus jealous.

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews, the successful romantic comedies would not live on the script, but also of the characters and of the representations. Mr. Wonderful fulfill these criteria. The film was not charged with those clichés that are in love films 'general' to be found. Matt Dillon and Anabella Sciorra would work well together.

The lexicon of international film wrote the comedy was " deliberately old-fashioned" and praised the performers. The city of New York had shown " in transfiguring gloss ", which is the " main attraction " of the film. The dialogues are " sanded "; the film was " smart " and " adorable ".
