Jack Culcay-Keth

Jack Robert Culcay - Keth ( born September 26, 1985 in Ambato, Ecuador ), known as Jack Culcay, is a German professional boxer and current Intercontinental champion of the WBA light middleweight.

Background and education

Culcay was born in 1985 as the son of an Ecuadorian and his German wife in Ambato (Ecuador). He came as a five year old with his family to Germany and is fluent in Spanish and German. In 2006, he began his military service in the army and was then time soldier ( last rank Corporal ).

1997-2009 amateur career

As the son of an enthusiastic amateur boxer he began in 1997 at the age of 12 years with the sport of boxing. Culcay - Keth launched for the TG 75 Darmstadt as a welterweight and 2007 had a record of 81 fights, of which he won 50. In chemistry Cup 2007, he beat the well -assessed Frenchman Xavier Noël, but lost in the final against Alexander Miller. He was nominated by then DBV for the 14th Amateur World Championships in Chicago, there came suddenly in October 2007 to the quarter-finals and failed only at the local heroes and eventual champion Demetrius Andrade. In 2007 he won the German Cup in the final against Rinat Karimov 15:10 on points and thus its first national championship.

Culcay - Keth started for Germany in the welterweight division at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. With wins against the Ukrainian Dmytro Mitrofanov ( 15:3 ), the Irishman William McLaughlin ( 7:2 ), the Russian Alexander Rakislow ( 6:3 ) and Jaoid Chiguer from France ( 9:1), he moved into the finals, where he lost the White Russians Mahamed Nurudsinau by injury-related fight abortion in the third round.

In the 15th Amateur World Championships 2009 in Milan Culcay - Keth won the gold medal in the welterweight division. He suggested in the preliminary round of the Egyptian Hossam Bakr Abdin ( 10:5 ), in the second round Brian Castano from Argentina ( 14:5 ), in the quarterfinals the Dane Torben Keller ( 5:2 ) and in the semifinals Boturjon Mahmudov from Uzbekistan (6: 4). In the final he won against the Russians Andrei Samkowoi by 7-4 points. He thus became the first German amateur world champion in boxing since 1995.

Since 2009, professional career

Jack Culcay - Keth, signed on 11 November 2009 a six-year contract with Universum Box-Promotion, he was trained there by Michael Timm. After the seventh fight in the service of the universe Culcay - Keth has terminated his contract with Universum Box-Promotion with immediate effect. Reason for the end of the collaboration were particularly the non-performance of contractual obligations by the universe and the lack of sporting and economic perspective for Culcay in the universe.

Culcays Manager Moritz Klatten said: "We are Universum Box-Promotion grateful that you want to put Jack no obstacles in the way ." In February 2012 Culcay then signed a contract with Sauerland Event.

WBA Light Middleweight Interkontimeister in

On August 25, 2012 Culcay won by TKO win over Frederic Serre intercontinental title of the WBA and defended that each advance against Mark Thompson (24-1 ) and Jean Michel Hamilcaro ( 17-4 ). In his third title defense, he lost the belt on 27 April, 2013 by a scant point defeat to the Argentine-born Spaniards Guido Nicolas Pitto (17-1 ). Shortly before Fritz Sdunek had replaced the previous trainer Ismael Salas. In the rematch against Pitto on October 26, 2013 he took the title back, and this time there was a brief point decision. Prior to the successful title defense on December 14, 2013 against the French Dieudonne belinga Culcay changed again the coach, and is managed by the British since Gary Logan.

On April 5, 2014 he won unanimously against Salim Larbi ( 19-4 ).
