Jacob LeFever

Jacob Le Fever ( born April 20, 1830 in New Paltz, New York, † February 4, 1905 ) was an American politician. Between 1893 and 1897 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Frank J. Le Fevre was his son.

Career

Jacob Le Fever attended the New Paltz Academy and Amenia Seminary. He was in the years 1861 and 1862 Supervisor in the Town. Then he sat 1863-1865 and 1867 in the New York State Assembly. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. As a delegate, he participated in many Republican State Convention and the 1888 Republican National Convention in Chicago.

In the congressional elections of 1892 for the 53rd Congress Le Fever was in the 18th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John A. Quackenbush on March 4, 1893. He was re-elected once. Since he gave up for reelection in 1896, he retired after March 3, 1897 from the Congress.

After his conference time he was president of the Huguenot National Bank - a position which he held until his death. On February 4, 1905, he died in New Paltz and was then buried in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
