Jacob Spoonley

Jacob Spoonley ( born March 3, 1987 in Palmerston North ) is a New Zealand football goalkeeper. He currently plays for Team Wellington in the top division in the New Zealand Football, the New Zealand Football Championship.

Career

Club career

The goalkeeper began his active career as a soccer goalkeeper in 2004 at Otago United and moved the following year for the first time for Auckland City FC. After two years he transferred to Wellington Phoenix in the A-League, where he remained in the 2007/ 08 season without obligation stake. After the season Spoonley was released from his contract. In 2008 he stood so briefly for the Miramar Rangers under contract, but moved in the same year again for Auckland City FC. With Auckland 2009 he won the national championship, in 2009, 2011 and 2012, the OFC Champions League and participated in the FIFA Club World Cup 2009, which graduated in Auckland in fifth place, and part in the FIFA Club World Cup 2011. In October 2012 Spoonley was equipped by Wellington Phoenix with a contract for a game after both goalkeepers from Wellington ( Mark Paston and Glen Moss) were traveling with the national team. In the match against Melbourne Heart ( Full 1:1) he wore with several parades to a surprising point profit. In November 2013 he played again in the jersey of Wellington Phoenix. In the game against Brisbane Roar he saw in the 41 minutes the yellow card. Wellington lost the game 1-2.

After his contract expired at Phoenix, he moved in 2013 to the city rivals Team Wellington. Thus Spoonley not now plays in the Australian A- League, but again in the New Zealand Football Championship.

Internationally

Spoonley participated with the U-20 National Team at the 2007 Junior World Championships. As a goalkeeper, he prevented his parades in the three preliminary round defeats more goals and is highlighted in the technical report as " responsive goalkeeper with good positional play ." In August 2008, took the Olympic team at the Olympic football tournament in China and in part came when Vorrundenaus as a goalkeeper in all three games available for use.
