Jacqueline du Bief

Jacqueline du Bief ( born December 4, 1930 in Paris) is a former French figure skater who started in a single run and pair skating. It is the world champion of 1952.

You was Bief 1947-1952 French champion in figure skating ladies. She took in the period 1949-1952 in European championships and ended up taking three times on the podium. 1950 in Oslo she won bronze behind the Czecho- Slovakian Alena Vrzáňová and the British Jeannette Altwegg and 1951 in Zurich and 1952 in Vienna, she became vice European champion behind Altwegg. From 1948 to 1952 du Bief participated in the World Championships. In 1951, she was in Milan vice-world champion behind Altwegg and 1952 finally in the absence of the British world champion. At the Olympic Games in Oslo in 1952, her second Olympic Games after 1948, where they had become 16, you Bief won the bronze medal behind Altwegg and the US-American Tenley Albright. You Bief was considered a strong Kürläuferin, whereas Altwegg had their strengths rather in the compulsory figures.

At the national level, you Bief won along with Tony Font pair skating championships in 1950 and 1951.

You Bief was trained by Jacqueline Vaude Crane. Following her amateur career, she turned professional, went to the USA and worked at various ice revues such as Hollywood Ice Review, Ice Capades and Holiday on Ice.
