Jacqueline Durran

Jacqueline Durran is a British costume designer. She was nominated twice for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design and received the award in 2013 for Anna Karenina.

Life

From 1984 to 1988 Durran studied philosophy at the University of Sussex and completed his studies with a Bachelor of Arts. From 1994, she studied the history of costume design at the Royal College of Art in London and in 1996 was the Master of Arts.

The late 1990s Durran worked in the first movie with an assistant in the costume design, among them were many large and successful productions such as Eyes Wide Shut, James Bond 007 - The world is not enough, or Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. From 2001 she took over the costume design also largely responsible. Her early work included the short film Dog, and the film All or Nothing, directed by Mike Leigh. In addition to Leigh and the directors Sally Potter and Joe Wright Durran booked several times for their films.

For her work in Vera Drake in 2004 won Durran BAFTA Award for Best Costume Design.

Major recognition came Durran for her costumes in the movies Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Atonement (2007) bestowed. For both films, she was nominated in 2006 and 2008 for an Oscar for Best Costume Design. For Pride and Prejudice she also won the Satellite Award for Best Costume Design and was nominated for a BAFTA Award. Other nominations for the BAFTA Award, a Satellite Award and the Costume Designers Guild Award followed for an apology. To this end, winning the Evening Standard British Film Awards for the best came technical performance, which was conferred jointly with cinematographer Seamus McGarvey and production designer Sarah Greenwood.
