Jacques Sirmond

Jacques Sirmond ( born October 22, 1559 Riom, † October 7, 1651 in Paris) was a French Catholic scholar and educator.

Life

1576 joined Sirmond in the Society of Jesus, taught at the College of Clermont ( 1581-90 ) and then became secretary general of the Order of Claudio Acquaviva in Rome ( 1590-1608 ). Later he was rector of the Jesuit College in Paris, and was confessor of the French King Louis XIII .. Its editions of the early Christian and medieval church fathers, eg of Paschasius Radbertus ( 1618) and Eusebius of Caesarea ( 1643), are famous. One of his own writings, " Concilia antiquarian Galliae " ( 1629), dealt with the early history of the Church in France.
