Jakob Poulsen

Jakob Poulsen ( * July 7, 1983 in Varde ) is a Danish footballer who plays for FC Midtjylland since 2014. His preferred position is right midfield.

Club career

Poulsen started his career at Naesbjerg RUI. In 1999 he moved to the youth department of Esbjerg fB, where he was part of the senior squad from the season 2002/ 03. With Esbjerg fB increased in 2003 /04 and 2005/ 06 part in the UEFA Cup. During the winter break of the season 2005/ 06 he moved to SC Heerenveen, with whom he again failed to qualify for the UEFA Cup in the 2007/ 08 season. However, Poulsen joined in summer 2008 back to Denmark and played from now on for Aarhus GF. In his first season he finished sixth with Aarhus. The following year, however, the club got off from the first division. Poulsen then moved in August 2010 to FC Midtjylland.

National team career

Poulsen made ​​from 2000 to 2006 various games for the youth national teams of Denmark (U -19, U -20 and U -21).

Poulsen made ​​his debut on 11 February 2009 in the Danish national football team when he was a substitute in the game against Greece. His first goal for the national team, he made 10 October 2009 at the World Cup qualifier against Sweden. There, he managed the 1-0 winning goal, bringing the Danes were able to qualify for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.

Jakob Poulsen, himself, took a year later, at the Football World Cup 2010 in part ( managed by the appointment to the preliminary squad, in the final squad ). He came off the bench in two group matches ( against Cameroon and Japan). The departure of the Danes after the group stage, he could not prevent, however.
