James Anthony Griffin

James Anthony Griffin ( born June 13, 1934 in Fairview Park ) is Bishop Emeritus of Columbus.

Life

The Auxiliary Bishop of Cleveland, John Joseph Krol, ordained him a priest on May 28, 1960.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on June 30, 1979 in Cleveland and Titular Bishop of Hólar. The Bishop of Cleveland, James Aloysius Hickey, donated to him on 1 August of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Clarence George Issenmann, Bishop Emeritus of Cleveland, and Joseph Abel Francis, SVD, Auxiliary Bishop of Newark.

On 8 February 1983 he was appointed Bishop of Columbus and introduced into the office on April 25th of that year. From his office he resigned on 14 October 2004.
