James Earl Rudder

James Earl Rudder ( born May 6, 1910 in Eden, Texas, † March 23, 1970 in Houston, Texas) was Major-General of the United States Army, Land Commissioner of Texas and President of the Texas A & M University.

Rudder gained fame during the Second World War. There he took a Ranger Battalion as part of Operation Neptune in the morning of June 6, 1944 Pointe du Hoc in Normandy one.

Later, he held various political offices in Texas. He was, inter alia, terrestrial, and Commissioner from 1946 to 1952 mayor of the town Brady. In 1959 he became president of Texas A & M University and in 1965 became the president of the entire Texas A & M University System.
