James Joseph Sweeney

James Joseph Sweeney ( born January 10, 1913 in San Francisco, USA, † June 20, 1968 ) was Bishop of Honolulu.

Life

James Joseph Sweeney received on 4 June 1938, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On December 29, 1956, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Bishop of Honolulu. The Archbishop of San Francisco, John Joseph Mitty, donated to him on 27 February 1957, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Eugene Joseph McGuinness, and the Archbishop of Seattle, Thomas Arthur Connolly.

On June 28, 1982 James Joseph Sweeney resigned as Bishop of Honolulu and was appointed Titular Bishop of Vicus Aterii.
