James Patterson Lyke

James Patterson Lyke, OFM ( born February 18, 1939 in Chicago, USA, † December 27, 1992 ) was Archbishop of Atlanta.

Life

James Patterson Lyke joined the Congregation of the Franciscan and received on 24 June 1966, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On June 30, 1979, Pope John Paul II appointed titular bishop of Furnos Maior and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Cleveland. The Bishop of Cleveland, James Aloysius Hickey, donated to him on 1 August of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Bishop Emeritus of Cleveland, Clarence George Issenmann, and the Auxiliary Bishop of Newark, Joseph Abel Francis, SVD. James Patterson Lyke was July 10, 1990 also Apostolic Administrator of Atlanta.

On 30 April 1991 appointed him John Paul II appointed Archbishop of Atlanta. The inauguration took place on 24 June of the same year.
