Jamie McGrigor

Sir James Angus Rhoderick McGrigor, 6th Baronet, mostly short Jamie McGrigor, (born 19 October 1949 in London) is a Scottish politician and member of the Conservative Party.

McGrigor visited the Cladich School, Eton College and the University of Neuchâtel. He then worked in agriculture and kept cattle and sheep. He also established the first trout farm Argyll.

For the first time McGrigor approached to national elections for the 1997 General Election. However, in his constituency, Western Isles, he received only the third highest number of votes and thus failed to reach the British House of Commons. In the parliamentary elections of 1999 stood as a candidate in the constituency McGrigor Western Isles, but received only 7.9 % of the vote. Since McGrigor was also on the Regional Evaluation of the Conservatives for the election Highlands and Islands, he moved as a result of the election result as one of seven regional candidates in the newly created Scottish Parliament a. In the parliamentary elections of 2003 he applied for the direct mandate of the constituency of Ross, Skye and Inverness West, but was able to unite only the fourth highest number of votes up. However, he retained his seat in parliament for the Highlands and Islands. Another time ran McGrigor 2005 for the British House of Commons, but could not prevail in his constituency, Argyll and Bute. Also the direct mandate of the electoral district of Argyll and Bute, a candidate in the McGrigor in the parliamentary elections in 2007 and 2011, he could not win. But in both cases, he defended his position of choice region.

McGrigor is spokesman for the Conservative Party for the Environment, Climate Change, Europe and External Affairs. He lives in the Argyll region and is the father of six children. In the shadow cabinet of the Conservatives it is intended as Minister for Sport and communities.
