Jamie Stone

Jamie Stone, actually James Stone, (born 1954 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats.

Stone attended the Tain Royal Academy and the Gordonstoun School in Elgin. He then went to the University of St Andrews, where he graduated as master of geology and history. Stone worked among other things as an English teacher in Catania in Sicily and in the food industry. Prior to his election to the Scottish Parliament, he was for more than 13 years councilor, first of Ross and Cromarty region, the Highland region.

For the first time Stone joined the Scottish Parliament elections 1999 to national elections. He stood as a candidate in the constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross and was the direct mandate with a clear margin win against the candidate of the Labour Party and the SNP. He moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament and defended in the following elections in 2003 and 2007, his mandate. Like his party colleague John Farquhar Munro Stone announced before the 2011 parliamentary elections to, to apply for any further term and retired at the end of the legislative period from the parliament from. As part of the constituency reform of 2011, the constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross was dissolved and largely replaced by the newly created constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Ross. The direct mandate Rob Gibson won by the SNP.
